Indirectly Lt. Colonel H. Douglas Lowman (deceased) found Moms cousin Nancy (who is my second cousin) for us. I love the little quirks of fate that allow these things to happen. Well, maybe it goes back even further than Doug - to Mom herself. Let me see if I can explain: When Mom and Dad were stationed in Stamford, Connecticut (1932-1936), one of their soldiers was Bud Lowman. Bud helped Mom take care of we children, which, at the time, numbered four - Sven, John, Hugo, Mary. Bud also had many children, one of whom was Doug (we all played together). When Doug grew up, and before he also became a Salvation Army officer, he worked for Bunker Ramo in Stamford, Connecticut. When my youngest brother Peter was looking for a job, Doug was instrumental in getting him a job at Bunker Ramo. After Peter started working there he met George Grimaldi. George went home and told his wife Nancy he was working with a Peter Wiberg. Nancy perked up and she said: My cousin Mary married a man named Wiberg! I wonder if Peter is related? - or words to that effect. And lo and behold it was so. And that is how Doug - and Mom - indirectly found Nancy for us! |
