Tom served a short time in the United States Army during World War I and was on duty in the United States. Thomas served with Company 7, Second Training Battalion, Replacement Group, Camp Greenleaf, Chickamauga Park, Georgia and with Ambulance Company #16, Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis, Indiana.
